  • Wednesday at Weems

I was finally able to get out and spend a little time on the water this morning.

I hit Weems Creek a little after 9 to a very low tide.
Water clarity was so-so, about 1 foot and stained, but no evidence of the mahogany tide of the previous month.
The low tide showed that there is still quite a thick batch of milfoil in places.

Fishing my usual chartreuse spinner jig and experimenting with a modified Kastmaster spoon, I managed to have a decent day, perhaps 20-25 White Perch in an hour and half.
About 1/2 of the perch were 7 -8 inches, the rest were smaller.

Glad you could get out and have some easy perch catchin' this morning.

Sounds like fun to me. It is amazing how the fish come and go seasonally from the tidal creeks.

I visited Weems this morning at 10:30. I did not have high expectations because the tide was low and the sun was high overhead. Nevertheless, I leisurely moved around shaded shoreline spots and caught 20 perch and 1 pickerel in an hour. I was home shortly after noon in time for lunch.

This type of fishing can be very relaxing. I am fortunate to live close to Weems so I can make quick trips there during the summer and get some easy pullage.
