  • Salvaging Gulp

More often than I care to admit I’ve left Gulp on a jighead after fishing. The next day there’s a shriveled, hardened, indelible piece of plastic laminated on the jighead like it was molded to it. In the past I’ve used various sharp implements to cut the Gulp off or just toss the whole thing in the trash.

With Gulp being scarce, along with jig heads, I decided to try soaking it in a glass of water. To my amazement, after an overnight soak the Gulp was rehydrated and slid right off the jighead. I put it back with its Gulp brothers and plan on using it again. Here it is sliding right off.

Good tip. I never tried that one.

I buy a gulp alive container at the beginning of the season. Any other gulp I use goes into it until a fish takes it or it won't stay on a hook anymore. This works great and keeps cost down.

I also throw other artificial baits in the Gulp Alive fluid. The scent may not last as long but many times I get hits soon after they hit the water so i figure some scent is getting on them.
