  • My 2011 Year in Review

Caught 3 citations, and a number of species for the 1st time. Also, placed in 2divisions at the CBKA Tournament. And was also asked to be a director for the CBKA!!

And my year is not over, I have a Reef charter tomorrow down here in Islamorada, Fla and a flats trip on Thursday... will hopefully add some more species to this list.

Awesome! Where did you get the Sea robin?

Good job Matt. I hope you get a few more species in Florida this week.

Nice work by moc too. It sure is fun to catch a variety of fish.

In just a few days, we reset the fishing counters to zero and get to start over. I hope to catch a few more pickerel before the week is over (once the rain [Tues] and high wind [Wed] move through).

Definitely a great year. My highlight & best fish from the yak was the doormat flounder I caught at Kipto. Hope next year will be even better!

I don't have a point of reference to compare this year to...I had never kayak fished before March 2011- but I also bought three kayaks this year and had the good luck of lots of fish in the boat- looking forward to next year- in 2012, I plan to travel with my kayak-especially to the Carolinas- that is one of the biggest advantages of kayak fishing- portability and access-

Off Hawaii- you might be able to get to deep enough water in a Kayak to get to tuna- otherwise a mothership would be needed to transport the kayaks- and you cannot paddle fast enough to drag a lure for tuna- you would have to use live bait and chum-

yeah mother ship, if lucky and find some tuna feeding on the surface big poppers work and butterfly jigs will work for deeper fish

Of course, it was not done around here, but here we have an unassisted kayak fisherman.

Dave, a model and inspiration for catching tuna off a yak.

I was hit by a boat and survived without a scratch. That is the memory that stands out the most for me. As far as fishing, it was a mediocre year for me. I caught quite a few stripers, but I did little else.

Hey Don, I see a commercial in your future. You should contact the Manufacturer of your Yak. Considering the glansing blow you took and that fact that the Yak held together like it did. You should send them a letter and a pic or two.
