That has been my point about the bay for sometime. I am going to use downscan. I just ordered a 597ci HD DI. Some of the new down scan FF have a 75 degree scan angle at certain settings.

The Down Scan will shine around the Bay Bridge Pylons. It will be nice to paddle around some and see whats really going on down there. It should save some wasted time and jigs hitting pylons that are empty. I'm really thinking about getting the Lowrance 4 DSI now. $350 for DI and a chartplotter is hard to beat.

I have read that the DI also shows Thermoclines better too. It will be interesting to see peoples results on the board this season. i know we have several among us with the DI units now. I wonder if you can easily see shell beds on them. That would be nice for marking good croaker spots.
