The water was 54 in the upper creek and 61 down in the main channel part of the river. If you luanch from the top you better at least have boots or like cold feet.

The shad, or herring, where up top and a few fisherman and lots of herons where catching them. They should be, but I have no idea on how long they will stay.

      SLAVIN'S RAMP
Slavin's Ramp is a private facility open to the public with a launch fee of $5.00. Owned and operated by Dick Slavin, a no-nonsense sort who keeps a very orderly ramp area and will direct parking the way he wants it done or else! At eighty-something he is loved for the way he watches over his customers.

The single ramp is in the center of what the state biologists call, "The best bass hatchery Maryland has to offer." A wonderful winding creek with a protected no-wake area some 6 miles long. This quiet area is perfect for small boaters.

To reach Slavin's take Indian Head Highway (Rt. 210) to the end of the road, about 18 miles from the Washington Beltway. Turn left on Mattingley Avenue to the ramp.

** Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make it. I forgot I told my buddy I would come to his house warming party Friday night. Hopefully ya'll get on some fish. Soon enough I'll have more fishing time!

I had a blast kayak fishing on Mattawoman Creek Cinco de Mayo with several members here & kayakbassfishing.com. Here is the link to a video I made catching a 4.4 LBS./20 inch bass during this trip.

Been wanting to see how everybody did... Can't see this video... Maybe it's not set to public?

How did everybody else do? Maybe there another thread somewhere... Will look around.
