There is also the Harford County Group that you started, that can help you (and everyone else) figure out who is local to your area but everyone still posts on the main forum and we can all see where to go when we come up MKF Pirate style and take over your good fishing holes!

Earlier in the season, fishing was great, Largemouth, crappie, big whiteperch and catfish. This warm weather has really moved most the fish deeper, and it's kinda dried up here except for in the early morning. This time of the year I'm mostly chasing rockfish on the power boat, but I'm always down for a little fishing from the kayak when weather and time permit.

Yes there are definitely some nice cats in the Bush River, I got a nice flat head a couple weeks ago in there. I haven't got a large mouth bass yet but I have seen a few bass boats fishing in the area between rt 40 and Otter Point. There are also White Perch and I have even caught a small Rockfish there. I live a few minutes from the soft launch on RT-40 so if anyone ever wants to fish in the evening let me know.

I enjoy reading the threads about small mouth fishing the upper Potomac- brings back memories of my early days wade fishing the Caddo River for them in my home state of Arkansas- terrific fighting fish and not bad on the table, either.

It would be a shame to see the MKF forum fragment into mini forums-

The MD fishing spots that I fish are:
            1. Mattingly Park (Slavins launch), Mattawoman Creek < 6.0 miles
            2. Friendship Farm Park Landing- Nanjemoy Creek > 22 miles
            3. Gilbert Run, Wheatly Lake, La Plata, MD- <14 miles
            4. Hatton Creek, Wicomico River, Newberg, MD>27 miles
            5. Mallows Bay, Potomac River, Nanejmoy, MD> 29 miles
            6. Marshall Hall, Potomac River, Bryans Road, MD> 19 miles
            7. AquaLand, Harry Nice Bridge, Rt. 301, PEPCO Power Plant Hot Ditch> 17 miles
            8. Piney Point, MD, Potomac River, St. Georges, Island, MD>36 miles
            9. St. Jerome's Creek, Ridge, MD, Chesapeake Bay western shore at Pt. No Point> 51 miles
            10. Point Lookout State Park, MD, mouth of the Potomac and the Chesapeake Bay> 56 miles
Sounds like some great spots to try as I am new to kayak fishing and fishing in the area as well. Tried Friendship Farm and caught a few white perch and a catfish (before I had the yak), however went there this weekend and got nothin. What have you caught there and with what. Saw some big fish jumping but not biting.

my reason for creating these groups was not to get away from the main forums. Obviously everyone is still going to post in the main forums, but posting in these groups can keep information from being pushed way down the board and eventually lost for newer members. Not everyone bass fishes, or salt water fishes, so to be able to find info in these groups without scrolling thro multiple pages can be a plus, Im never going away from the main forum, but like i said to be able to get in a local area and see who is around faster then positing and hoping i run into some one, is more what im looking for. Ill always meet you guys and get together through the main forum, but like i said a quick fix local guy that day is something any one can use in their favor. And no one has to join a group, but for those who see it as a positive will use it. and those who dont, i guess wont but to me its just an extra place to obtain info from better fishermen

I think the groups in the community section are a great idea. I just don't want to see the forum broken up by locale.

I'm sorry but thats a pretty hypocritical point of view. Don't join a group if you don't want to. Let others do as they please. Voice your concern, and move on.

How is that hypocritical? There are two sets of groups, the community ones members can create that you can join and the one that are part of the forums ( I.e. HOW and CBKA) which Mike or Dail create. I believe the community ones are a great idea regardless of whether they are location or other. I don't think the forum groups should be broken up by location and, apparently, neither does anyone else that posted.

It seems that you are the one who can't "move on", my comment was actually partly in support of yours.

And welcome to the MKF Pirates Group!

this is getting good [making popcorn]

I see reason in both arguments, what about a freshwater section/ saltwater section thus refining information more specifically.

Man, allot of self righteous folks in here. Very sad to see a nice site/forum detracted from by people who feel they run this forum... Very tragic indeed.
