Local Area Group - Harford County is up!

ok....I don't mind people creating community groups as long as it doesn't take away from main forum. I'll go ahead and create a Locale category. But, im not breaking up the forums into location, its only going to get cluttered and confusing. The great thing about this forum is that its simple, not like other sites that are broken up into 50 different sections, forums, groups etc....it just gets confusing.

The freshwater section isnt a bad idea and ill see how I would categorize that.

Everybody here is entitled to their opinion, but lets keep it civil and not jump on someone if you dont agree with their opinion. I dont want this place to turn into SOL or Tidal where ppl stop posting because of 1 or 2 individuals that have to ruin it for everyone else.

Im glad that you as the admin have decided to step into the conversation. May I suggest a compromise on the group locales? Instead Of doing it by county, how about we do 3/4 locales like Northeast( Balto/Harford/Cecil) Central (Anne Arundel, Howard, Carroll) Western and Central? Would that be a decent compromise?

Man, allot of self righteous folks in here. Very sad to see a nice site/forum detracted from by people who feel they run this forum... Very tragic indeed.

Let me think about how we can make this work. My only concern is having multiple and duplicate threads spread out making it into a clusterfest. It will be a lot easier, especially for new members, if everyone just posts in the Main Forum, but Let me think about it and ill get back to you.

Holy shit, I think we just had our first every MKF arguement. For a second I thought I was on TF by accident.
I think a lot of guys like what we have and they've been part of this growing community for years so there's reluctance to change.
There's plenty of room for new folks and new ideas. Everyone on here has been pretty cool so I'm sure we can agree that differences of opinion can stay at simply that.

Also, I'm in White Marsh and fish up in Harford County. Just post up and say you're going somewhere and you may get some replies. Maybe I'll catcha on the water.
If you see Memory Maker out on the water, go play the lottery because it doesn't happen often!

amen to that^ if i want to wade through everybodys opion TF and SOL are the place to be not here. we all ready have groups like the southern MD, central MD, eastern shore guys and suski guys and our bros from NOVA. like i said before add your location to your bio and members will know where your comming from and guys from your area can get in touch or guys from other areas will want to chime in

I believe in order to have a good idea you must have many to choose from. So, having people make suggestions is a good idea and helps the overall group. However, not all ideas can work for a multitude of reasons. I believe when you post a suggestion for another idea for the site then you must be able to accept ALL comments. There should be NO derogatory wording or comments because it does no one any good. But at this point I do not believe this is the case. Just don’t take the comments about your idea personally. When you put the idea out not everyone may agree, and the reasons may or may not be legitimate. In the end Grilled has the final say and many thoughts go into the process.

I believe this site was created for many people to use and keeping it simple seems to me the way to go, but then again just my opinion and I expect others to have their own. I do believe, like the government, the site will become more complex and difficult to find information or result in many duplicate posts in different areas of the forum.

I hope this remains the open and friendly site to which I think it was created and designed to be used for. When it becomes unfriendly then others, like me, shall go elsewhere. We are up to 800 registered users and many more unregistered. Let’s not lose our appeal of being a friendly group of diverse avid kayak fishing persons in the region who like to share information and fish together.

Just my opinion, comments welcome. I have no feelings so have at it.

Before I join in the Chorus of Kumbya I have one more thing to say.

We have close to 800 members on this forum. Approx 770 of them contribute in no way whatsoever. I fall in the ranks of the 30 that do contribute. I don't feel that i own/run the forum in any way, Mike and Dail do a gret job with that without me. But i am a part of the group and I offer my knowledge, ideas, and opinions in appreciation of the countless things I've learned from the other members. Believe me, I'm still in debt.

When someone comes on here with a suggestion to create a separate section of the forum so that they can just talk to people that they are local to, I take that as a slap in the face. If you don't want to be part of the group, don't join the forum. You can troll the pages and pilfer all the info you want as a guest without throwing it in my face.

Anyone coming to this board is lucky to have it as a resource, don't discount those that fish in different places or styles than you do.

I apologize if my comments were argumentative, I thought I had succeeded in editing them to be as benign as possible.
