I'd be willing to help coordinate an Upper Potomac Smallie meet and greet. Somewhere between Harpers Ferry and Great Falls.
I have been suggesting the Upper Potomac for some time now. There are some great launch spots along the C&O canal just above Harpers Ferry. The water is flat like a lake, with some flowing areas. It is a great area to fish. That would be fun.
I think the Mattawoman M & G was a big success last year with a great turnout. Almost everyone caught fish and Grinder's after was a really tasty choice for lunch. We should try to do that one again around the same time of year.

I'll be at the M&G in January.
I agree with that too. Grinders was good. Great turn out.
Here is a thought for everyone since we are getting so many good ideas and volunteers to host M&G, since SurfDog posted this thread. Continue to recommend places for M&G and we will compile a list here. Please vote on the places that will get a good turnout in your opinion. Then also volunteer to be what we call the host for the M&G for a particular location. If we do not get a host then we will drop the M&G location and look for another location that we can get a host. Last year we picked locations that we thought MKFers would like to do a M&G at, but we never got a host to organize it. So next year 2013, those locations should be dropped from the M&G list unless we get a host. What does a host do? Well, they will do the following:
Pick a place to hang out for a short while for food and drinks for the Anglers before they go home or back into the water. Typically it is lunch, but it can be other meals.
Post the M&G on the forum and ask for a count of who is commited to going so you can have a headcount for the Restaurant.
Pick a meeting time for launch and lunch
Post directions /fishing reports / tackle needed or any useful information that you have. Others can help with this. Especially for those new to kayaking or the fishing area.
The host can have others help him/her with getting this off the ground.

Tom, any spots where you an pull out and set a grill and such? Maybe even a camp site place and make it a two dayer if anyone is interested. Its been years since I did a camper over on the c&O, cooking blue gills over the fire, potatoes roasted in the fire. Oh, I'm in!!
"If you can't have fun doing it, it ain't worth doing." ... or you're just doing it wrong.

I've never camped on the Potomac Rob. If someone has some ideas, I'm all ears. I know there are lots of hiker/biker camps all along the canal. I can think of a couple of spots that might work. I'm sure we can come up with something.
I will be at Dave & Busters on 1/12. Also the same offer for setting up at Bass Pro will occur 2013 in early spring. Will update you when I get more info. It went very well and all who participated in 2012 seemed to enjoy the couple days we were set up. It was a great way to share the sport to others.

I would really like to meet up with you guy but for the last past 5yrs I have been carrying an goose hunting party for church for an fundraiser. Is thisM&G date set in stone..
I could host a South River M&G. That is any easy one for me, with October being the best month.
I loved the last South River M&G (even though I did not catch a keeper) except for how hard it was to sit together at lunch. It was also well attended. If point is to get max guys together, I'd definitely vote for a south river jaunt.

Hi. The Lost Navigator here. Hobie Pro Angler 14. New to the group and new to yak fishing. Just finishing up my first fairly successful year on the Potomac, Patuxent, and St. Georges. Made two trips to the OBX and manged to get swamped in the mighty Atlantic. Can't wait to get back in the spring. I'm looking forward to some winter fishing in Southern MD and sure wouldn't mind a few pointers. I'm also wondering what a good B&W Hummingbird or Lowrance DF is recommended.
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day.
Teach a boy to fish and he'll grow up to be a man,
sit in his kayak and drink beer all day.
fellas i would love to join and finally meet some people on the site here... i will be in the Caribbean in Saint Kitts during the 12th.. i do not come back until the 14th.
eventually i will make an appearance to put a face to the name.
If we do the South River, I would find another location for the after fishing get together. Davis Pub might be a good place. I already checked, there is no Navy game in town on October 12.
