Question about winter fishing down at Occoquan, you guys ever catch the odd largemouth while out fishing for crappie there? I was thinking about coming on down on Sunday morning and dragging a jig & pig and tossing a suspending jerkbait to see if there are any big green fish interested in a winter snack.

I don't fish for LM at all. But I always catch them as bycatch when I fish for Crappie and YP (winter) and when I fish for snakehead (summer)Originally posted by Turtle135 View PostQuestion about winter fishing down at Occoquan, you guys ever catch the odd largemouth while out fishing for crappie there? This will be only my second time fishing the Occoquan. I fished it in Dec and caught crappie and sunfish. I marked a lot of other fish on my fish finder, but could not get them to bite. I was told that schoolie rockfish come up there and of course there are catfish. I assume there are bass the judging by the boats and an occasional snakehead (in the warmer month) there.

A guy fishing with me pulled a 5 pound 4 ounce greenie out of there that was only 19.25" long. Something about living in tidal waters, those bass get a stocky build before they get long.Originally posted by moc View PostThis will be only my second time fishing the Occoquan. I haven't been fishing in a few months now, but with the weather looking good I thought it would be a good time to hit the occoquan for some crappies. I was going to go a little later in the day because I just started training for a marathon and was going to do my run in the morning before fishing. I am glad I checked on here though. I think I'll join you guys in the morning and leave early enough to give me time to do my run. I am going to stop Dawson's this afternoon for minnows. I'll pick up a while pint which is much more than I will need if anybody wants some. According to their website they don't open until 11 on Sunday so it won't be possibe to stop there before fishing.

They didn't have any at Dick's in Sterling? That's where I got mine. It wasn't exactly the most obvious thing on the shelf though.Originally posted by AbuMasgouf View PostAfter not finding it at local stores, I ended up getting it from tacklewarehouse.com. With shipping ($6+) the final price was a few cents cheaper than the other places online. Going off of Comeonfish's advice (Thanks again Joe) I got the bass feast which is crawfish and garlic flavor. If anyone is interested here is the link to it:

On an eye-level shelf on a short section of shelves between the two aisles of plastics. I believe the Rage Tail stuff is right below it.
