Thanks! I've got home and found out that the ride is missing a few 'optional parts': Like the plugs to fill the holes...... :-)

Maybe my madden voyage will be delayed for a bit. This boy is chomping at the bit.........

      Best Regards,

Really, I don't think you want to be bothered with my on first first practice cruise. I'll be just puttering around seeing how to use this thing. BUt, I'd love to hang out with you some other time!

The plugs are optional- without the plugs installed, it allows the hull to be self bailing when big waves come on board- I have NEVER used any scupper plugs in any of my kayaks- just don't see a need- I wear breathable stocking foot waders, under amour insulated long johns and sometimes a Dry-top if it is really, really cold, rainy and/or windy- mostly I don't use my dry-top that much (although I carry it on-board- just in case)- I plan on being in a wet boat and dress accordingly- I am getting up in age so I am a little stiffer than some of the young guys and I try to avoid any possibility of the dreaded "turtling" of my kayak- haven't had that experience in my three plus years of kayak fishing and plan on avoiding it forever, if possible-
Oh, by the way- Martin and Bill were the first MKF Forum people who took me fishing on my very first time in a kayak on Wheatly lake in February three years ago- I caught my limit of five trout- four rainbows and one golden trout- so you can fish on your first trip- and we still fish together a lot-

All really good points. I have no special water cloths yet, and the PFD has not come yet; but man I NEED to float this thing. So, Saturday I'm going to. I've got to get back home by 10:00 AM, so, will be doing a fairly quick trip.

THanks for the pointer about the holes being OK.

Nah, That's not it. I have never been to Triadelphia or Rocky Gorge with a kayak mostly because I thought they wanted a promise to not use your boat in other bodies of water so as to avoid transporting biologicals into their water. Years ago I paid $5.00 a day just for shore fishing and did squat. Centennial is $5.00 or about $70.00 a year. There are some big bass, nice bluegills and a ton of crappie there. I go there maybe 4-6 times in the spring before my secret (free) place opens around Fathers Day. As for puttering around, you'll spend ten minuets doing that and then you'll be fishing. Sitting in a kayak fishing is like fishing from the sofa at home. It's a natural. Hope to see you on the water soon.

If you like river fishing for Smallies you might check out Potomac River Smallmouth Club out of Vienna, VA. They hit the upper and lower Potomac, the Susquee, the South fork of Shenandoah and many others.
