Wow, you guys did amazing last time. I have to join you guys. Will be at Jones Point at 7 AM. Is parking/launching free there? Will it be necessary to have an anchor?

I'll have Friday off too, and it's likely I could make it down to the bridge for some cats at least for the morning. I (shamefully...i know) have to grab my fishing yak tomorrow after work and take the metaphorical shrink wrap off for the year. I haven't finished switching over my FF and gear over to that one yet, so I'll be bare-bones fishing with 1 rod and no electronics in all likelihood. T

I will fish the big cat with you guys. But I'll have to be out of there by 10:30 to make it to work on time (pacific time).
Fish, you'll probably do better with an anchor. Catfish hunt by scent, so if the bait is moving, it's harder for them to find it. However, big blue cats are predatory and will eat moving fish, so you can still catch them if moving.

I have to get out of there by 1030/1100 as well. Can I just throw a 5 lb dumbbell over my kayak?

Thanks for the update. May I ask what set up and rigs you were using?

A basic top bottom rig with a 2 ounce weight and number one hooks. On my second rod I use a 4 or 5 O hook on an 18 inch leader with a 2 ounce sinker. This rig is typically called a fishfinder rig or a Carolina Rig. The bait that got the most bites was sime fresh raw chicken tender strips at the grocery store for about $3-$4 . It out performed the night crawlers that I had.

For everyone going tomorrow, this area requires a DC fishing license, which is $13 for non residents. You can buy it online, make sure you wait until the license is approved and then print the approved version.
