I agree with the 3rd weekend due to Mothers day weekend. The third weekend is the 18th as Kitkat and others mentioned. I would be up for that and maybe that will be one more week for the water to heat up for fishing and maybe crabbing.

I'm gonna say yeah, the 18th it is. Sorry bch89. I have been know to do more than one a year though. The perch stick around the oyster bed for quite a while in the summer and the crabbing just gets better.

It's alright I'm actually 15-20 minutes away in Dunkirk thats why I was so interested. If you ever go out and looking for someone to tag along just let me know. I'm trying to go out as much as I can this year.

                  Are Newbies welcome?

I'm just starting to get the 'yak out of the local lakes and rivers, so I'm slowly upgrading from bottom fishing for croaker and cat in the Patuxent....

                  Thanks,

Newbies are always welcomed and encouraged to join in the fun. That is an opportunity for them ask questions from other kayakers and to get ideas on rigging their own yak, and learning new launch locations.

Everyone is welcome, the more, the merrier.

I will have the fire pit open this year if anyone wants to try roasting their fish.

bch89 - I will let you know next time I head out so you can join in. I don't get out much anymore due to my work schedule and family obligations but I'm trying to make time for more fishing.

Sounds good I really want to get into it more. I had a blast last weekend down in Indian Head at the tournament that was set up.

Please post if you are going to join in for the M&G, and please, let everyone know what you are bringing. This is a "potluck" event, I have posted some of the things we will need in the first post of the thread.

I am coming, As long as I still have my kayak, I am probably selling my prowler and if the winds up the Commander would swamp.

and what do you need to be brought? I'll buy a tub of Potato Salad.

I will try to make it as long as my job does not interfere. I was looking at my personal fishing reports from over the last three years, and it seems that fishing for perch was a little challenging this early in the season. Maybe since folks fish quite often, and maybe if we run into a mess of good size perch between now and the M&G, that we should fillet them and freeze them for the M&G? So if we do not catch any fish worthy of cooking , then we can still do the fish fry since you were requesting the fryers and other gear that maybe needed. Any thoughts?
