I'm game! This is mentioned by a couple guys so there's good interest. I've never been there so don't know when/where. If you can suggest a few dates maybe we can make it happen. Haven't caught redfish or specs since my days in Louisiana.

YES! Let's plan something. I've fished the upper Potomac quite a bit with a fair bit of success around Riverbend Park in Fairfax County. http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/riverbend/ Love catching smallies. But I've never caught a walleye. I would like to...

Glad there is some interests in these subjects. I don't know much about the Outer Banks, as I have never been there either. I have been visiting the NC Kayak Fishing Club forum. I have been just reading. I'll have to register and ask some questions about where and best times of year. It seems as if they fish reds all year. Yes, we'll put something together for a trip.

As far as the upper Potomac, I fish alot above Harpers Ferry, the Knoxville area. There are several nice ramps along the C&O canal. There are areas up there that are like lakes. Slow moving and perfect for kayak fishing. There are lots of boulders and rocks. I have caught the walleye in the spring. I don't know where they go in the summer. Thirty bass in a day is not uncommon. In the heat of summer they tend to be smaller. I generally plan my fishing there around the river conditions. I use the USGS river conditions page: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?01610000. This is the precise one that I use for the area I fish. This is a good site to use for anyone who fishes rivers. Spring will be a good bet if the rain is light. June is also a good month, as the rains have let up and the water is still somewhat cool. One warning, the weekends can be somewhat crowded up there. I usually fish the weekdays to avoid the crowds. However, yes we can put some trips together for that area. It is also a good area to fly fish for smallmouth. I mostly spin fish or casting, I use mostly artificials, with alot of soft plastics. On occasion, I will use live shinners. I use small inline circle hooks to avoid gut hooking the fish. I think this year I am going more to inline circles in most of my fishing overall. I have been moving more and more that way in the past few years. Last year I even was using circles for croaker. There are also Musky in that upper Potomac area. I have not gotten one of those yet.

There is also an area downstream near Brunswick that I have been wanting to try. However, that is fast water. I see alot of boats fishing that area.

      Should be fun this year.

Dogfish .......... might want to also check out the North Branch of the Potomac .......... have't been there in decades but it was great then ...... we rafted it and fished ......... I understand that much of it now is catch and return and some big trout there too .......... we were catching 100 fish a day up to 4 lbs ......... not sure of the regulations

but the scenery is absolutely beautiful ..........

Just read the Virginia Outdoor report and I think we may want to consider Lake Anna as another possible venue for winter striper fishing. There is a "warm" side that fish stay active in all winter.

I'll put together some more information on Jamaica Bay in another thread later tonight.
            Used to fish more.

I thought this one was going to be a rigging expedition. Is there a place yet? Of course we could get together to carp fish, that day or another day. The only problem with fishing in February is the weather. I could be very nice to bitter cold, tuff to plan.

I'm up for fishing if the weather isn't bad, but rigging would be fun too. I have a Ride 135 and Cobra Explorer that could use some attention to get ready for next season.
                            Used to fish more.

I know, this winter sucks. Sometime back someone mentioned that the shop in Easton was willing to have the rigging session there. I don't know, maybe it fell through.
