the way i've seen them used is with sandworm stuffed inside and a piece on the hook trailing behind mostly for sent. i've also used them plain and caught fish.

Whoa! Are you guys talking about Tonys? Those things have been around longer than I have been alive. This time of year we used to troll the 19s and 21s. This was back when Tonys and bucktails were the only thing that people trolled in the bay.
I always used a large inline trolling weight. I used my main line down to a ball bearing snap swivel, tied with double line. Snap that to the weight, which used to be anywhere from 1oz to 24oz, depending on the depth you wanted it to troll. Then use another ball bearing snap swivel to connect the leader to the weight. Then again about half way down the 20ft leader have another inline ball bearing swivel. The leader can be longer, up to 30ft. Then I would tie the leader directly to the Tony. I have caught huge numbers of fish on those things. You will need all of those ball bearing swivels to keep twist out of your line. Believe me, a Tony or Cripple Alwife can make a twisted mess of your line.
This time of year the bigger the better. We would troll those things from just under the surface to dredgeing along bottom. The rule of thumb would be chrome for sunny days and white for cloudy days. Wow, just goes to show, stick around long enough and fashions tend to come around again. When you keep in mind, that the stripers are feeding on shad, herring and other larger fish as they are comming up the bay, a large Tony is about the right size, big fish, big lure.
Sorry Mike, I also probably have some Tonys that are older than you. Some of them have probably caught more fish than you also.

Guys, wish I could make it out with you this weekend, new equipment being installed at work and being on call equals no fun for me this week...
If any of you are able to get out on the 15th and 16th, KFM is going to be filming for a new feature on their site.
As far as the T&W, if you can find the rudders.. hook one in line with top quality snap swivels
They help keep the twist out of your line. Weighted keels ar too much for the flats. Use the Gulp Sandworms, they do work.

there was some talk awhile back about moving M&G's to Sundays. Does anyone know the status of this. Having them on Sunday's would definately help me make them all!!!Tom Brown

I think we should re consider OC inlet. Boat traffic there is limited to 5kts to keep the wake in the inlet down so the boats arent really flying by you. It would also allow us to target a bigger pool of species. You can tent camp in many areas for those who dont want to make the log drive in the morning. I made it there from Columbia, MD in just over 2 hours. If you arent on for the current make a right outta the marina and fish behind assateague.Interstate Kayak Fishing

Matt and/or Pinch just take the lead and set it up. There's been some suggestions, good ones, too but no one has stepped up to organize.
Pick a launch, check the tides, set the time, determine a restaurant/pub and whether we should eat/drink before or after. Post directions and they will come. Some may not be able to make it but that's every M&G. I'm in!
