You might also want to try top water lures like small poppers or floating Rapalas that slip just under the water surface when retrieved.

Your likely species will be smallmouth bass -- lots of them if it is a good day.

Keep your lures moving. Smallmouth respond well to movement at this time of year.

Smallmouth Bass are the primary target.
If you like panfish, bring ultralight or fly rod , the sunfish here are almost always abundant and aggressive this time of year.
Other species you may encounter in this area are Channel cats, Carp, Rock Bass and Walleye. I caught a 26" eye just off the planned takeout a couple years ago.
There may be Musky, but generally they are farther upriver from where the M and G will be.

I would make sure that you have:

      4" Senko's
      3-4 inch curly tail grubs.
1-2 inch curly tail grubs if you want sunfish.
3-4" Tubes or craws. Lately I've really like Paca Baby Craws and Baby Rage Tail craws.
      Buzz Bait
      Floating Rapala - 3"
Mepps Size 0-1 for sunfish if interested. Size 3-4 for smallies.

If you want to expand your arsenal:

Bandit Footloose or Manns baby 1 minus
Bandit 100 crank, or Rebel Craw
      Flukes
Twin blade spinnerbait 1/4 or 3/8 oz.
Suspending crank like Rapala suspending shad rap for deeper stretches.
      Sammy, Topedo, Zara spook topwater
      Hurricane Skimmer 128

River conditions are looking great and I think the weather should be nice too! Possibly the best Meet and Greet Ever!

Here's a link to a map of the launch at Brunswick, and El Sloppy Tacos.

Thanks for the tips. I have many of those lures already. Hopefully I can tag along with a more experienced freshwater angler.

Thanks to Runnin, Mark, and DanMarino for the tackle advice, much appreciated From looking at the map, you drive through the MARC parking lot and then hang a right after the RR tracks. Is that correct (only been to the left on a visit to the campground)?

Yes, you turn right after the tracks then go under the Rt 17 bridge to a parking lot and boat ramp.

Two more in here. First M&G. If any body wants to drop thieryak off at Brunswick and then drop a vehicle at Lander I can shuttle you back to the launch site at Brunswick. Can carry 4 comfortably or 5 packed in. Looks like it is only a 15 minute or so ride and if we can get someone to watch your gear for a little while while it is left at the launch you'll good to go for just a float trip.

If interested drop me a PM and I can supply a phone #. Feel a little funny throwing a phone out for the whole world to see.

Hey John - you are welcome to tag along w me. While i dont have a ton of experience on this stretch, I do fish further down stream in the Whites Ferry, Poolesville, Edwards Ferry sections often out of a jet-drive john boat. Generally speaking it can be easy fishing. Lead jig heads, 1/4 oz or smaller, with grubs or tubes or Gulp minnows can all produce...i dont suggest heavier because they will snag easier (bury themselves) under the multitude of rocks & ledges and you will find yourself spending the day working snags loose or cutting line. Its still going to happen, but the lighter jigs will give you time to flip the bail & start working the lure over the obstructions...instead of dropping like lead balloon. The moving baits, spinners & cranks worked just under the water should produce as well. I have a gold Ford F150 p/u...come over & introduce yourself...unless i have already taken it to the Take-out point. I will PM you my cell phone.

I may be interested in in the El Sloppy Tacos thing. Have to go back to Brunswick at some point anyway. Food is always good. How long you planning on staying on the water? I was hoping to make a pretty long day off it with lunch on the water and maybe dinner at the taco place later.

Not a friend going with me, it's the wife. We are planning to go directly to Lander to drop off her truck. And then head up to Brunswick with my truck and the kayaks. That is where I'll be available to shuttle anyone back Brunswick. I'll get to Lander at 6:30. If anyone is there then your welcome to a ride. Once again room for five.

If you're trying to make a long day of it you may want to take out at Point-of-Rocks instead of Lander. That'll add about 2 more miles of good fishing to your float.
