Russ ........ That's bullshit ........ They advertise 600 lb capacity ........ You and your tackle don't weigh that much . I am really beginning to get turned off at Hobies customer service. How can they repair a 3 in crack at a stress point. They make accessories listed for the PA that don't fit and are beginning to not stand behin their product. I'd appeal to them again

My first Outback (2010) cracked in the drive well Mid October 2011. I paid $75 and got a brand new 2012 hull. Doesn't really make sense that they are not covering the hull fully if it is still within 2 years. Also, if you are not in a hurry, make sure the shipping they are offering is not expedited. When I got mine I think it was $150 if I wanted it shipped within a week and $75 for 2-3 weeks.

It is. The warranty end in May 2014. If they fix it, the warrantee is not extended.

Russ, I think you should raise a stink with them about this unless it is in the warranty that you have to pay for shipping and pro rated value.

I would, but I don't want them to withdraw the replacement offer and just repair the damage. I learned a lot when I outfitted this yak, and would love a crack at a clean slate, plus, I want all of the updates that the new model offers. That said, the cost is worth it to me for the upgrade.

                The final offer from Hobie:

1). Plastic weld repair for free

                2) new 2012 hull for $375 + $175 shipping

3). New 2014 hull for $475 + $175 shipping, but not available for 4 to 6 weeks since they are just now gearing up for the New Years production run.

                i took option #3.

I don't know you Russ, but think you made a good choice , new seat model, transducer ready, three years newer, if you do sell it , the value went up that much! Perhaps you shouldn't sell after all?.............Jack

I learned a tremendous amount from outfitting PA #1, and am looking forward to making changes on the new yak. I still want to find a way to install a full bath with a jacuzzi tub.

I am strongly leaning in that direction. The thought of not being under the Bay Bridge for the upcoming tournament makes me ill.
