You better explain you situation to the Ranger before you do much 4x4 access, even if Ms. Lisa say's it's OK.

And.. I don't know what about 150 yards from the parking lot to the water is about... it's more about a
    1/4 mile.

The parking lot is at the road... not down by the water.

Hopefully there will be some of your friends to assist you.

Driving a 4x4 across the "path" to the water will definitely ruin the "nature" of this site.

Conflicting info here. Can we back up to the beach and drag across the sand or do we have to cart the yaks a good ways?

You drive down to the cross over/launch drop off...
then take your car back up the access road and park at the front gate (about 1/4 mile).
You don't need a cart unless you want to use it to go over the "dune" and across the sand.

There is a small dune you go down... it is semi-hard.. then across some sand.
Probably 75 yards total after you take your yak off the car.

I used my cart... others may have just dragged their yak down the dune but there are, were,
rocks on the "dune" cross over.

Maybe... and I don't know, or "approve,"... drove their cars over the "dune" to the sand.

The only issue until late this year was that you had to have a permit to even drive down the
road to the water. This is not the situation now. So you drive down, drop off, park at the front gate.

Great. Thanks for clarifying. I thought you meant we had to cart the yaks a 1/4 mile or something. I can deal with dragging over the dune. I do not drive my truck on sand and was not planning on offroading. I would not do anything to jeopardize our privilege to launch there.

I actually visited this area before the changes... a number of times and parked at the lot
and carted down... actually I enjoyed it.. sort of the "path less traveled" gig.

I have numerous "reports" I haven't posted yet that would help to this
... and we had discussions about this launch before... but here is a picture of the setup...
Unless the procedure has changed in the last month or so since Goody and
some others went there and spoke to the Ranger... it should still be the same as in the photo.

Rob-kayak has got it right. Last time Nitefly and myself launched here, we were able to park inside the fence...there is now a port-a-pot inside. The temporary drop off area is also marked with a split rail fence. If vehicles are already unloading at the drop off, I would recommend waiting at the top parking lot until there is space available. That way we don't accidentally drive on the grass...it would be easy for the ranger to determine who did what. I have a feeling Snaggedline will be heavily represented at this launch in the future and we should leave a great impression of our forum.

Eric caught one about 17''. No one else even marked a fish.. The wind ran us away before the tide had a chance to start coming in good. Buzz got there as we were leaving, he may have waited out the tide...
