I will probably go after large mouth bass, mainly. really anything caught is a put back, but maybe crappie (never have before). maybe have BassMoore help me on a few techniques or any questions on stuff. BUT, fishing is fishing, just have to look at what i can do now that i have my feet wet. AND you are probably right, once i get in this kayak, i might see where i need a difference to suit my needs/wants. Danno

I live near Columbia, MD and have fished Piney Run several times. It's a great place to fish, with plenty of bass. We've always caught fish when we went there and we haven't even fished the whole lake yet.

i agree with dan piney run is a great lake for kayak fishing because its small enough that you can cover alot of it in a little time. lots of bass bluegill and crappie.the grass gets thick in the summer so brush up on your grass fishing skills.

i will probably be calling out to see if anyone wants to go sometime, also try and make some invites to new areas and ways of fishing 7.9' beast of a boat (i know its small, but its not the size of the boat..........DOH).....hope to meet some other kayakers from this site so i can learn as much as i can....you know, i havent fished very much over the last couple of years because of work and bands, but as my wife got me the kayak, does that mean that my kitchen pass is open ended for fishing? Hmmmm something to think about. Danno

Welcome aboard. I joined this year. I only fished one M and G but had a blast. I've been Kayak fishing over 10 years. It is addictive. Your wife sounds like a very understanding and supportive lady. Putting up with bands and now Kayak fishing. She's gold. Hang on to her. Your boat at 7'9" sounds ideal for Piney Run, and Upper Potomac and Susky rivers. Be careful, a lot of guys here fish big water like Bay Bridge, Point Lookout etc. A 7'9" craft could be real dicey for anyone in such water much less a new Kayaker.

Have fun, but above all be safe and ALWAYS wear a PFD!

might have to upgrade after i really get hooked on it......how many days til christmas??? lol.....i will have to see other kayaks in action and find out from them what they like or dislike about them. at the moment, though, i havent seen past the initial kayak, let alone all the cool stuffs everyone has placed on their own.....the trolling motor seems like a cool idea.....hard fishing in the wind without an anchor.....put that one on my list.....definitely need to get it out on the water and see how it feels for the size of boat. hoping to get with others of the like and learn stuf....Danno
