I like the site. It is nice and simple. I hate going on the other local site for there are so many stickies at the top of every forum that it makes it confusing as heck to find new material.
One thing that I would like to see is a local launch site forum. Sure there are launch site listed on other sites but they are often useless and not specific to our area. I do a lot of exploring and yaking in the summer and I would gladly list the few launches I know. Also to build up membership, which eventually leads to sustainable adverting, maybe the launch forum could be teased as a forum option up top, but can be only accessed as a member, thus linking to the membership page. Launches are the only reason I go on some sites, and for the local DC Met crowd that is very good incentive to join. Besides, to reduce spot burning, there are a enough codes for local launches to keep the new yorkers confused

Although making the site sustainable may not be the purpose of the site, maintaining a site is a lot of work and some incentive may sway the discomfort.
I found the site looking for launch sites.

I actually found the site through a bunch of internet searches, but when I wanted to re-find it, I found it difficult. I probably was doing something stupid.

At any rate, honestly, this site is awesome. The collection of folks on here is great and very helpful. I think I speak for everyone when I say thanks for providing this site for us. It's simple and easy to search. I've seen others that can get a little out of control and you can't remember where you read a post.

I'm not sure what it costs to run the site, but maybe a little donation tab would help offset the costs. I'm sure guys would sacrifice a lure or two to keep things going.

I've got a suggestion ....... when you go to snaggedline, the home page allows you to select the forums tab. When selected, it doesn't go right to the forum. It goes to a comments page that allows you to select the forum. Why would I want to leave a comment on something I have never accessed ..... doesn't make sense The first time you use it it's very confusing and weird.

First impressions are many times the only impressions ..... especially if they find it difficult to get in the first time.

Why not take the people directly to the forum when they click on it and have another way to leave comments .........

I love the site and the club like feel but if you want to grow faster then you have to make it easy and make a great first impression ......

Just putting a word in you're name doesn't make you important ....... the quality of the people on your site and what it offers does ........ this site is important to me and others and will be to many others once the word gets out ....... it is growing everyday ........... problem is that some want it to grow faster but adding association won't do it ...... in fact it may keep some away .......... sounds too formal and stuffy ...... I want something that is fun and free so I would think twice before getting involved ......... look at Tidalfish ....... it doesn't say Tidalfish assoc ..... same w/Surftalk and the better ones .......... if you want to be important then do something that makes you important ....... saying so don't make it so .......

If you want it to grow fast then get links set up to your site from other popular sites and kayak shops ........ if it's to expensive to run then charge a fee .......

            Mdkayakfishing ......... or maybe ....... Yakfish ........

Sorry for the rant but if it ain't broke then don't fix it ........ adding association to the name just cheapens the image for me ....... we're a bunch of Yak Fishin Bums ....... like the surf bums or the whitewater bums ....... free and lots of fun ......... don't put the starched shirts and ties on us dude !!!!!! ........... Leave it alone !!!!!!

Keep it Mdkayakfishing ........... of maybe Yakfish ......... and have threads for diffrent areas as it grows ......... whole lot more Yakers in VA and NJ ...... but this site has more to offer from what I've seen and some great people ......... the monthly M&G's bond the bums
Hey! Yak Fish is already taken

The site looks great as it is, but as others have said, the url could be simplified to make it easier to search. That's the thing you want to think about if you want to move this site in a direction where it can become self-sustaining with banner advertising. More hits means more revenue.

The site is great and glad I found it, not to push anyones business or put a shout out, but how about a section for the surrounding area shops who actually support and have knowledge of what is best used for fishing from a kayak so when you venture around the area you have an idea of where to stop to check out different shops. I know most shops where I live are geared more toward the boat set-ups and look at you funny when you ask. Just an Ideal being I am not loyal to just one shop.
Don't know if it works until you try it.

You got me here from another site. This is the best local site for kayak fishing I've encountered. Other sites have other interests besides kayak fishing. Most kayak fishing focused sites around the country are very good. This one is right up there. And it's because it's kayak fishing focused and, most importantly, the people that's here. Somewhere, sometime you mentioned your goal was to simply promote kayak fishing in Maryland. More guys joining, getting together for the monthly M&G's, getting to know one another, expanding where we go, when, sharing how to's, etc, etc. It's happening. Nice job...!

Oh, yes, keep it simple, focused on kayak fishing in MD waters, the Chesapeake, ocean, rivers, lakes and reservoirs. I do like Tucked In's idea about a section for the area shops who support kayak fishing and have knowledge of their area waters. This site could be MD/NoVA/DC central for those looking to explore the area and what shops to stop at to check out the different areas.

Other focused sub-categories might might be Launch Locations, Fresh & Saltwater fishing reports in order to provide those focused on either the brine or sweet water a more focused sub-forum to check out.

                  Another 2 cents...

Hey, that's a great idea about having a launch location section. I used to spend so much time trying to figure out where to launch and not knowing if there are fees, or what kind of water I'll encounter, or if it's safe. I got a book, "Sea kayaking the baltimore / washington area" and for those of you that don't have it, I recommend it. It talks a lot about different locations to launch, etc that made it a lot easier for me to just go venture out there. For example, my trip to Dundee Creek is much different than taking a trip to Hart Miller Island or to the Bay Bridge.

Under a launch section, people could just add their favorite sites...public launch or a spot on the side of the road with water access. Members could then add onto it. Eventually, we may have the most complete documentation of launch sites around the state....no joke.

Another section could be coupons and current deals run by other sites/local stores.
