Wonder if it would be worth giving Sandy Point a try for some surf on Sat when it's crappy?

I'm thinking to try Occoquan tomorrow. Shad are there. Less wind, too. (not this afternoon!)

Last year I fished piney run alot. Mostly from the piers but a few times from a smaller kayak. Piney Run is great because it does have bass, strippers, catfish, crappie and perch. They stock trout in the spring but from what I can tell most of them get eaten by strippers. The only issue is the cost ( $5 a day for a car and $9 a day to luanch a kayak). They also have season passes ($50 for a car and $40 for launch pass) but it is still expensive. Once it warms up a bit we should plan a fishing trip there for largemouth.

                    Hey ....... that's cheap .......have to figure gas costs to wherever you go ........ BB is about 50 miles 1 way round trip @ 13.5 mi/gal = @8 gal x $3.5 = $28 ........ CBBT is over $100

Sooooooo ........ Piney run is a bargain .......

Just not sure the Lake is big enough for 3 Pro Anglers at once ......

TJ--I was thinking about hitting City Dock park or the Occoquan with my father for some early shad, but he definitely doesn't like to fish in crummy weather. Let us know how you do if you go.

ronaultmtd--Is the ramp at Gilbert Run park open? It was recently stocked, and I thought that might be a good option for this weekend.

Sam--are you fishing from the Navy area?

I will be at Gilberts Run outside of Waldorf on Sunday. I never fished there before, so we will see if I can get an April Fish.

I fished all day at lake anna, caught a lot of skunk. I now have two riveting videos to share of me catching nothing but wind and rain... Come on nice weather....

I stayed local and fished LRaven for a few hours yesterday afternoon. It was cold rainy and got pretty windy at times. I managed a few pickle heads one went over 21", long enough for kayak wars points, but i
Found out when i looked at the pics i took that you couldnt see any of the measurements (FAIL) as the fish covered up the entire ruler and i couldnt fit it all in the frame. This was a good shakedown freshwater run. Taking pictures while holding a slimy toothy fish and trying to Measure it all at once in a kayak is really hard.

I have from 1-3 to fish today. my options are headding to chain bridge and tossing some darts or going to some local ponds and getting the new yak wet for the first time. I'd like to get some pullage. But id also like to slime the new boat. i need opinions!
