  • Hello from Holey Rock

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is David and I was introduced to the site by a nice couple as I launch my kayak this past Sunday at Mattawomen. I have 2 jackson cuda 12 kayaks and love them to death. I fish in them every weekend as I figure I need to get my fishing in before it gets cold. I recently moved from Texas where you can almost fish year around. Yes I know you can still fish year around here but I do not like to be cold and wet lol. I look forward to meeting all of you on the site and if anyone has a suggestion on where to can launch my kayak this weekend on the Shenandoah river I would greatly appreciate it. So this message does not follow very well it is late for me lol.

    Thank you,
    David

Welcome aboard David and nice Snakehead!
I frequent TKF quite often looking for rigging ideas & DIY Mods. The thread they have on Kayak Trailers is amazing and I got some good ideas off of there when I built mine.
I too have a Cuda 12 and love it. Just got it a couple weeks ago and have only been out once with it but after that trip, I have to talk myself into taking out my Hobie PA instead of the Cuda now.

Hello David, and welcome to the East Coast. I hope you enjoy it out here. It is a fishermans dream with the different bodies of water. Those are some nice fish. What did you catch them on? This is just one app that gives launch site info, http://www.paddling.net/launches/ but if you google the subject there are more out there. I hope to get to meet you soon on a fishing outing. Some of us are going to Goodhands in Kent Narrows this Saturday and you are welcome to join us.

Welcome. Just get yourself some waders and a dry top. You can fish pretty comfortably about 9 months out of the year around here that way. It is definitely pretty hard to get motivated to get out there when the temps are really cold. I just got a full 3l dry suit, so maybe I will actually fish pretty much year round this year.

Welcome, I too suffer from the cold weather blues being from Florida. What brings you to MD? I moved here just last month because I'm active duty. You couldn't ask for a better group of people then on here. Where exactly are you located? I live in Waldorf, me and a few other people are going fishing Saturday on Kent island. If you wanted to switch up your plans and join us your more than welcome to.

Welcome to area and the site.

For the Shenandoah I would highly recommend talking to the guys at the White Fly Shoppe right outside of Harpers Ferry. They really know their stuff and were very open with offering information. If you want to do a solo float they will show you where to park and haul your yak and gear to a good put-in spot for $30. Take food if you go though, their longest float takes like 8 hours when the water level is low.

Thanks everyone. I got that SH on a top water frog. I missed a massive one this past weekend at mattawomen. My line snapped when I set the hook.
