Chasing spot tails-outer banks trip 10/17-10/21

Great report guys, sounds like a great trip.

Nitefly - your comment on the Outback, would you expect it not to perform well for any reason. Only asking as I just picked one up for fishing the flats on FL Gulf Coast.

Fishhead... sorry for the long delay on a reply. The Outback is so good at many things, but it is not the best for standing and sight fishing, at least for me. Also, I have turbo fins on mine and we were in 6 inches of water at times. You can feather them in shallow water to keep forward propulsion, but 6 inches is too shallow for the turbo fins. I wasn't in water that shallow too often. I can stand in the Outback, but you don't have a lot of room. The 2015 Outback looked like they made changes to make standing easier. I have no regrets on getting the Outback! Hope that helps!

Thanks for the feedback. Mine is a used 2012. Have both turbo and regular fins. Will see how it goes. I guessing can just paddle if water gets too shallow.
