  • 30 striper and 24 blues :)

hey guys.2day me and my dad were planning on going to the bridge to jig but wen saw that even at thomas point there was 3 to 4 foot waves so we just decided to fish the river.we fished 4 an hours without a bite so decided to head home.on the back to the marina we saw literally thousnads of birds working and fish jumping all around the south river bridge.i thought they were menhaeden so i threw my net and realized they we rock and blues.i threw a small meps spoon at them and cot a 10 inch striper .2nd cast...another.i cot around 30 stripers all were under 15 but they were a blast! there was some nice blues also.cot 24 blues biggest was 21inches .it was so fun to catch a fish every cast or every other cast.sry for no pics but it was so sudden and such a blitz i didnt have any time to take pics

Like I said before, you're becoming quite a machine.

That's the kind of day I'd like to have. Maybe one day.... You'll have to tell us the secret to finding those blitzes.

i'm surprised your cast net didn't pull up a bunch of 3-4" YOY rock mixed in. i've been picking at similar school with similar results but haven't cot a blue over 12" yet.

i think the anchovies are the startof the little food chain i've been playing with, so i've been mostly using kastmasters. the 1/4 oz size hooks up faster because anybody can get on, but 3/4 oz casts a lot farther, sinks faster, and helps keep the little guys off. regardless, i typically see 6-12 little rock following the lure just before i pull it out of the water. the weird part is people aren't talking about this on other forums.

ps - i haven't given up on bigger ones, just haven't had time to get out after them the past couple days.

I remember when I was 13 I'd be out mostly catfishing the local creek, sometimes going for largemouth bass. I wish I had access to saltwater like you do at that age. Consider yourself lucky, you'll learn a lot. I guess the schoolie stripers are in already, figured they wouldn't be around for another month or so.
