It certainly was an incredible day. I started off a little frustrated because the wind was higher than what was forecasted, and I was having trouble maintaining a position I could cast from. But once John clued me in on where he found a few fish, the trip really turned around. All the rumors about the fish regarding their attitude and ability to escape are absolutely true. Without my net and "soul pole" I doubt I would've managed to subdue any of them.

Nice work guys! I'm glad to see you found the fish plentiful and biting. I suspect the approaching weather system helped a bit with getting em' "on the chew". Banner days like that are not easily forgotten. They are what we all live for! Congrats

I really like the taste...IMHO better than striped Bass...and you cannot say that they don’t give you a good fight...they are absolute escape artists...you don’t have one until it is being cleaned...

EDIT: All done and it’s definitely top shelf tablefare. I liked the lemon garlic marinade, but the simple dry rub olive oil was my favorite. My wife was the opposite, and my kid loved both. It kind of reminded me of snook, which is a great thing!

I'm going to try to head down there as well, probably Saturday. I was planning on going this Sunday but its probably best to stay out of the doghouse so early in the season and spend time with the wife on Mother's Day instead.

I can confirm that I also know nothing about snakehead fishing, but I imagine if we have enough people spread out who don't know what they're doing, one of us is bound to stumble on some fish.

I'm thinking of either Mattawoman or BWR this weekend 12th 13th, Saturday 8A-3P, Sunday anytime (only commitment is bday party Sat evening) - LMK if you want to linkup. I'm leaning towards BWR even tho its farther + toll.
