  • Severn River Wednesday morning

I took my new Vibe Skipjack on it's first Severn launch this morning. It was also the first time I have ever used a C-tug. Boy, I should have bought one of these years ago. My Malone never worked great at Jonas Green or at Beverly Triton. The C-tug with the sand wheels made carting a cake walk. The only thing I changed on the C-tug was the strap. I put a 1 inch ratcheting strap on it as the one they supplied just slips.

I tried both sides of the river from the 450 bridge to the 50 bridge and I trolled the channel edges. I only wound up with one seven inch perch which I caught in my first 15 minutes on the water. I figured with an out going tide things would have been hotter but no such luck. I also spoke to several folks fishing from the bridge and the beach and they had nothing either.

Thanks for the report, any info/recon on the Severn is much appreciated, especially with this weird weather season recently.

Wow, the Severn still seems depressing. Maybe I’ll have to rethink giving it another try this weekend.

I never fish the Severn on a weekend anymore. The boat traffic is too thrilling for a man of my age.

I agree. If I do get an overwhelming urge to fish in the Severn on a summer weekend, I will tuck into one of the creeks or tidal ponds and fish for perch. Having the luxury of fishing on weekdays is a real treat.

Ha, good point! I launch at Jonas Green and if I stay on that side of the river and troll between the bridges it’s not too bad, but it is an adventure if I want to cross over to Weems creek.
