Mark, John Rentch, and I launched in Weems Creek about 8:00 am. The wind was supposed to be strong from the east, but never built to a strong point. We had high water level and overcast skies all morning.
We did a combination of trolling for stripers and casting for perch. I found a few perch in four different Severn tidal creeks. At one spot, I caught a 5" striper on the first cast, and a 5" perch a minute later in the same location. I had to laugh about these diminutive representatives of their species.

Over 3.5 hours of fishing, I ended with 25 perch, 3 small stripers (2 by casting and 1 on the troll), and my first Severn channel catfish in a decade. The cat was 23" long and fought aggressively on my ultralight rod. It hit the lure just two feet off a row of riprap in shallow water. The catfish did some serious bending of the Bignose lure that it bit. I bent it back into shape and caught more perch.

Mark and John each caught stripers and perch. Mark had the largest stripers today -- he can report on his catches.
The Bignose spinner caught all the perch, the catfish, and two of the stripers today. The third striper hit a 3" paddletail in gold "Bling" color.

We rewarded ourselves for the good outing by enjoying the Chinese buffet at the nearby Canton restaurant.
