    I think you are correct.
The biggest fish my oldest son pulled out of Triadelphia was a muskie.
Not a huge fish, but probably the next best thing to getting one of the big stripers.

Yes, the reservoir has both pike and stocked tiger musky. The state shocked up a musky that was pushing 50 inches back in the fall, but I'm not sure when they were last stocked. A friend caught a pike in the mid-30 inch range about a month ago. The state also stocked 800,000 striped bass fry last month. Who knows how many of them will make it to adulthood, but I'm excited to find out!

I saw that news about the striper fingerlings. If only 1% make it to adulthood that would be 8,000 fish. That would be great and I would imagine far more will survive.

Has anyone seen any shad balls yet?

That's really interesting about the stocking of 800,000 stripers into Triadelphia.

I did a little Googling and found out the fingerlings were raised at this Maryland hatchery:

          https://dnr.maryland.gov/fisheries/P...s/manning.aspx

The fingerlings were produced from wild-caught parents.

Does anyone know if stripers are stocked in our tidal waters? I found no mention of it online.

          Thanks,

Mark, the state does not stock stripers in our tidal rivers to my knowledge. I believe they prefer to late nature take its course there, and don't want to risk messing up the genetics. Anything they could produce to stock would be a drop in the bucket there even with the reduced spawning stock we have right now. The bigger limiting factor is environmental conditions in the Bay.

I fished Triadelphia this weekend, and the bite was tough. That said, I did get to watch a guy land a large musky! He was trolling for stripers when he hooked the impressive beast. In chatting with him afterwards, he said he's caught stripers up to 30 pounds in the lake. One more thing to give a try!

              Cliff,

I can tell you that the bite at Triadelphia did not improve since the weekend.

I was there today and caught 4 or 5 miniscule sunfish on poppers and a streamer. I launched from Big Branch. I knew it was going to be a bad day when I got no hits casting to the shady shoreline of the inlet from the ramp to the main stem of the reservoir. The bite was no better in the main body of water either.

I suppose the heat sent the bigger fish to deeper water.

By the way, the cicada damage to the trees near the reservoir was very noticeable today.

I have an acquaintance at the DNR who is checking into my striper stocking question. If he finds an answer I'll share it here.

One good thing about tolling for stripers in Triadelphia is that you don't have to worry about snagging a cownose ray.

I think the combination of the warmer water, the two-foot drawdown, and extreme water clarity has pushed a lot of fish deep which many likely suspended. I'm finding fishing deep in the lake a bit challenging because of all the flooded brush from the 5-years of drawdown. I did best over the weekend trolling mid-range crankbaits like shad raps, and caught a number of white perch and crappie but I lost a crankbait to that flooded brush for every few fish I caught. If anyone has thought on how best to fish this kind of cover, I am open to your suggestions.

Yeah, I've been thinking drop shotting and shaky heads would be the way to go for bass right now. Its that time of year where my attention is going to shift more towards wet wading for river smallies though.
