Hit up KN with the crew last night. It was myself, Mytmouse, & Foursteps24. We launched at night around 8pm or so. It was a nice night out there, but as expected, the current flow was in full effect. It was interesting, never having paddled in water like this. It made for a challenge at times.
We set up near the drawbridge section to cast our artificials. We were across the channel from a boat that was doing fairly well catching stripers. Our luck wasn't as good. At one point, one of the guys offered us some of their hot lures. It was nothing special, just a 2" storm swim shad. I eventually hooked into a striper, but I lost him right at the side of the boat. Estimated size was mid-high teens. Not quie sure if it was a keeper.
The guys on the boat were in the hot spot. We watched one of the guys haul in a 32 incher. He thought he was caught on my line lol. As the evening progressed, the nice guys on the boat invited me to come fish with them. I tied off on their boat, which shielded me from the current. As I was there, I saw mytmouse bowed up with a nice fish. Unfortunately the fish broke him off before he could get him to the yak. They offered me water, sandwiches, donuts lol...Really nice group of guys. Unfortunately, I couldn't replicate their results. After while I thanked them for their hospitality and went back where I was.
Foursteps had the only keeper of the night. As he mentioned calling it quits, he hooked into a nice 18" striper. That was our only keeper amongst us.
It was a good night out there regardless. That current flow is something else!
