Took advantage of the day off (and much lighter winds) today and launched at Solley's around 7:15. Wasn't expecting much, but figured if rock were going to be anywhere, it was likely to be in bigger water so paddled out to the ship graveyard. Stopped and caught a bunch of small perch and a some teeny-tiny rock along the way. Once I trolled out past the beltway bridge, I got a nice hit that turned out to be a 12" bluefish. More passes in the area netted a few 13"-15" rock and then I finally found what I was looking for (or it found me). 23.5" - my biggest of the year - sent the drag on my light tackle rod screaming for a bit. Stuck around the area for a bit longer and managed a few more small rock, then headed back to try and find a holdover pickerel to complete my Curtis Crush. No luck, and was off the water by noon.
I have to say, I really like Solley's. It's super convenient for me (about 15 min) and has a really nice ramp and great parking. But the litter just kills me. I filled up nearly half of a 40-gallon trash bag in the dock/launch area alone. Don't understand people at all...
