I had things to do around the house so I didn't get on the water at Jonas Green until about 4pm. My initial plan was to see if I could find some monster perch around weems creek and along the way.
However when I paddled out past the fishing pier I noticed schools of bait fish and tons of birds so I broke out the jig heads and chartreuse swimming gulp. I was using 4in on one rod and 3in on the other. The FF was going nuts. They were all small but still fun to catch. I caught 24 skinny "Jenny Craig" stripers and 2 small blues at the bridge. I did see some big fish on the FF but couldn't seem to hook one. Plenty of fish in the area. The nice weather provided heavy boat traffic.
Later in the afternoon I ran into a guy named Sam who was fishing from a sit in kayak. We talked for a bit and then fished for perch around the boat docks near the bridge. We caught a bunch until dark. Sam had been crushing the perch earlier in the cove directly across from Jonas Green and had a bag full of nice ones.
It was a beautiful day.
