  • Jonas Green 9.9.2012

I had things to do around the house so I didn't get on the water at Jonas Green until about 4pm. My initial plan was to see if I could find some monster perch around weems creek and along the way.

However when I paddled out past the fishing pier I noticed schools of bait fish and tons of birds so I broke out the jig heads and chartreuse swimming gulp. I was using 4in on one rod and 3in on the other. The FF was going nuts. They were all small but still fun to catch. I caught 24 skinny "Jenny Craig" stripers and 2 small blues at the bridge. I did see some big fish on the FF but couldn't seem to hook one. Plenty of fish in the area. The nice weather provided heavy boat traffic.

Later in the afternoon I ran into a guy named Sam who was fishing from a sit in kayak. We talked for a bit and then fished for perch around the boat docks near the bridge. We caught a bunch until dark. Sam had been crushing the perch earlier in the cove directly across from Jonas Green and had a bag full of nice ones.

    It was a beautiful day.

Jenny Craig stripers--I like that. That's a nice perch, too. Sometimes it can be hard to get through all the small stripers to the bigger ones underneath. Even then, it can be hard to know what the bigger ones are keying in on.

Yeah, I think they all had Body Dysmorphic Disorder. After I pulled the hook out of their mouth they all said "Do these horizontal stripes make my butt look big?". I said "No... now go eat some chocolate covered spot served with a creamy Alfredo sauce!"

The white or chartreuse ones are called Hawg Troughs. You can find them online. I bought mine at the Cabelas store in PA, since I happened to be near there.

ACK has their own "Hog Trough" board- I bought my chartruese two weeks ago- one thing I have noticed that fish calm down instantly once you lay them on the Hog Tough- the cradle seems to support them in a way they quit flopping around- I had a 14.5 inch bluefish going crazy...until I put it on the trough- It behaved just fine- quit fighting

I was going to get the one that I have from Hook1 but I was already getting other stuff from Austin Canoe and Kayak and I noticed they have them on clearance for $13.96 in the outlet store because they have the old ACK logo. I think you might be able to use an ACK coupon code on top of the discounted price. They only have white left.

That's funny I noticed the same thing. It must be the raised lines combined with the cradle that gives them a Shiatsu massage. I also noticed Blue's of that size like it when you rub their tongue with your pinkie.
