  • Fat Perch on the Severn 10/21/2012

I met SurfDog and Shield at Jonas Green this morning at 6:00am. We launched and fished up river. I caught 30 fish this morning. Several pickerels up to 12 inches, a sunfish, a 15 and 14 inch rockfish, several pebbles, and the remaining were white perch. I fished near a partially submerged fallen tree and hooked up with a strong white perch. It fought like a rockfish. The force was strong with this one. When I boated him, it turned out to be a 14 inch white perch! The largest that I had ever caught from my kayak. After returning to shore, I took the perch up to Angles where they registered it as a citation. They told me that it was tied (so far) for the largest perch registered this year in Maryland. This was my first citation perch on the kayak! Do I dare say ..."SAMMMMWWIIICCHHHHH!!!" Most of my fish were caught jigging with an 1/8 ounce round jighead tipped with a 1 inch green curley tail grub.

Nice Fish, I guess you take the lead on the record board.... but I'm not sure if that pic is legible enough against the measuring device haha jp

Should of let it go so I could go catch it this weekend. smh

Way to go Martin! That is a magnificent perch. I'm glad you got your citation -- who knows what that might bring you next September.

Everytime I catch a pickerel John, I think of you.... It seems like I can pluck one out whether I want to or not...
