  • Bay Bridge Bonanza - Livelining with Mojo

What a beautiful day under the bridge. I launched from SPSP around noon after a stop at Anglers where I got 15 spot. I did not want to waste any time trying to catch them.

Within 3 minutes of dropping in the first spot, I had a 22" rockfish in the boat.

During the next 6 hours, I caught another 13 rockfish. Only 4 of them were below 18". I was livelining spot with a 1oz weight. Most fish were caught on pilon #16 (southern span) 10'-15' down. Every soaked spot resulted in a striper, except for the last one that got lethargic.

There were many many boats out, but strangely, I didn't see anybody else catch a fish. Come to think of it, that makes total sense, considering I was the only boat with Mojo on board.

Maybe you should rent out Mojo to the rest of us for the good luck he brings.

That's quite a dog you have.

        Congrats on your excellent day.

Yeah Mojo is growing fast, and yes, so far he has brought me good luck. He is for rent. The fee is... 1 million dollars!

He's starting to take an interest in the fish. He'll pop his head out when I catch a splasher.

I didn't even bother. Jigging the BB is really difficult for me. I always end up with way many more snags than fish. This livelining thing is way easier.

I crossed paths with Len from SnaggedLine over there. He told me he was having a hard time jigging anything up. On my way back in, I passed by him again and he said he had switched to livelining and was having better luck.

                        Mike,
rumor has it you'll need to pay an extra entry fee at the CBKA tourney for Mojo..... seems fair.
