I'll add a few pics of one of Alan's nice stripers. Alan fighting, unhooking and showing off a nice fish.

Great work and great pics Alan! The one really had me laughing. Nice work on getting your fish and your buff to coordinate…(what will you do when go fishing for snakeheads?) Now I feel really foolish for not hitting the flats this weekend.John Hostalka

Shallow waters favor non-powered (read motor noise) boats- same in the Florida flats or any flats- the whine of a outboard propeller can be heard a long, long way underwater..."Lady Luck" 2016 Red Hibiscus Hobie Outback, Lowrance Hook2-7TS

Are you guys running heavier wt. line when fishing for big girls?
I think I have 30lb. power pro on my one rod, the rest I'm thinking might be a little light ?John Hostalka

I use 20-30 lb braid and 20 lb fluoro leader, which broke 4 times in the last 3 trips. It wasn't at the knot either. I think their spines or gill plates, or something else that they get leverage on cuts it. That 20 lb fluoro is pretty tough but maybe I need 30 lb. I just fear going too high because of potentially limiting lure action....dunno. It probably would have helped to retie a new leader after some of those big girls. I got complacent and didn't in order to get back to the action.

Great, thanks! I have a tendency to overdo things sometimes, so looks like I'm good to go with what I have already. I think I'm feeling a severe illness coming on...maybe one of the sunny and warm days next week :-)
Hope some fish are still around then.John Hostalka

I limit (and just about stopped) using fluoro because I can't trust its abrasion resistance. One little nick, and you are losing fish (and expensive plugs). I've gone back to using mono...thirty pound test seems like enough. Then again, I dont catch the numbers you do at the flats so maybe i should reconsider my thinking.Jason
