  • Another day another record

I went to Pohick bay again today, and hooked up another huge fish. I must have been 15 lbs but I did not have the scale on the kayak with me. After I cut the gills and drained its blood and weighted at home. It came to 14+ lbs. I'll take it, beat my personal record 12 lbs on 6-24. I was struggling with the fish so I did not take a lot of pictures. Here is the weighted one.

Off the top of my head you should be good to go, but I believe you have to register somewhere online. It's free, but I haven't done it yet so I couldn't tell you where to go. Most tributaries are good to go as long as you aren't way way in the back. For example, I can fish Mattawoman with a VA license as long as I don't travel back beyond the bridge.

            That is a MONSTER!!

VA and MD have license reciprocity so if you have one or the other you can fish adjoining waters. Details here:

              http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/fishing...eciprocity.asp

However, you should be aware that Pohick is part of the Northern Virginia Regional Park system and launch fees are different for out of jurisdiction boaters. It'll be $9 for you, Harry.

They also list an admission fee for out of jurisdiction visitors but I don't know if/how that is collected. I've never seen anyone at the entrance gate.

Guys, this SOB fish was a cow, you have to be next to it to appreciate how big, ugly and slimmy it was. Khan, I got the video and the photos I took of you and SnakeZilla, pm or text me and let me know where I can send them to you .
