A regular yellow perch fisherman from Tidalfish fished at Perryville yesterday and was skunked. http://www.tidalfish.com/forums/show...ow-style/page3.

Apparently the river level is high after strong dam releases.

It would be prudent to monitor fishing reports from the previous week and flow conditions to see if it is worth the time and effort for a bunch of us to drive there for the M&G.

Oh my, that sure doesn't sound good...Thanks for heads up.

Even when waters return to normal, I'm wondering if the high fast water may have ended the mediocre Yellow Perch Blitz that we had this year.

I'll monitor reports and water levels and see if this is worth doing or not...

      Anybody have any alternative ideas?

A bad day on the water is still better than anything else this time of year. I'm still in....Unless it'd be dangerous to be out there.

Thanks for the tip on the water releases.

Would catfishing also be affected? That's exciting me even more than perch fishing.

There's always cats on the Potomac, or perch/cats/bass elsewhere (Nanjemoy? Occoquan?, Patuxent?) as a back up plan. However, I've never had much perch luck in the Patuxent or other places in Southern Maryland before March.

Cats are always around on the susky too. May be a good idea to bring some big chunks of cut bait as back up, if you are still planning on going to the M&G.

Like another member said...I am still in. I will just have to adjust my tactics to include targeting catfish too.

On another topic, As Memory Maker said, I would prefer a cold beer and a hot meal, but I am flexible. Whatever the group wants to do, since I really want to talk about their fishing experiences for the day, and what tactic worked best for them. Hopefully things will improve.

As for Perch, another boater on the Susky told me that large yellow perch were biting along with crappie at the Middle River and also at Joppa town? I have never been to any of these areas to scout them out, so I cannot vouch for the intel. This is just what was told to me on the water.

Oh yeah ....... Joppa town would be REAL nice ....... great free ramp, parking and plenty of places to fish ..... 6-10 ft deep mostly if I remember correctly and lots of docks and structure

I'm game for any type of fishing. I certainly wouldn't mind getting into some nice catfish. They are one of the fish on my bucket list.

I've only ever launched out of Joppatowne for crabbing. It's a nice ramp and lots of structure as noted. Just never did any fishing there.

I think we should probably just stick with going to the Susky for the M&G. Temps are forecasted to be colder next week then they have been recently with lows hovering around freezing. Someone posted a report about fishing there yesterday on TF and it sounds about the same as its been:

                      http://www.tidalfish.com/forums/show...p-on-the-Susky

Maybe things will improve by next weekend. I'm confident that I could still find keepers where I caught them the past two trips.

If anyone on the list on page one it not going to go now, please let me know. Otherwise, please vote for the options that you like in poll. I will make a decision on what to do about lunch based on the majority.

Some possible lunch break spots are Garrett island and the perryville municipal pier. For some reason the pier doesn't show up on google maps and there isnt much info about it on the internet, but its there. For people that have fished the area, this is the last pier just upriver of the trainbridge. The pier has many floating slips, I'm also wondering if this is a possibility for kayak launching? I've seen people fishing off of it a lot of times.

Might want to think about the NE river.

I want too, but I don't think I'm gonna be able to make it up there next weekend.

I am still game for where ever you decide Ryan. I got my perch rigs made up and I got my catfish rigs too. Has anyone been to the Susky lately? Count me in.
