man I have a lot to learn about this area. Thanks for the heads up. I was about to head to Jersey's Surf Day, but this sounds like a good local ticket. Although Surf Day is pretty amazing if you're into surf fishing and plugs. It is also on the 19th

Yes & yes. But I don't know this show. Is this it:

If so, it came about after I moved from the area. Looks great. Love the suds. Caught all my 40+lb stripers from the surf.

Lemme ask you this... got any Bob Hahn plugs?

Yup, that is the one. Great show. Mostly tons of custom plugs, some retail guys. They have few seminars. Really a great day if you're into the surf. It is not a flea market though, no old/used stuff.
If you want used surf stuff and the best selection of custom plugs, go to Asbury, or Bekeley fishing flea markets. Anyone that makes plugs is at one of those two.
I'll be heading to Asbury this year for the first time, but have been to Berkeley and surf day a bit, But I am looking to head to this PSG flea market instead of surf day this year.

Yea, have a few Hahn's, although not many. Mostly other stuff.

Bought my first bit of saltwater kayaking tackle today. Got two Stretch 15's one Stretch 25, a dozen or so buck-tails in various sizes and colors, a package of storm swimbaits that looked cool and some red storm eels. Bass pro really didn't have a good selection of tubes so I decided to try the Storm Eels instead. Anyone use these before?

Gonna have to pull ignorant and be the one to ask, but what be this tube and worm thingy you all keep talking about. I throw tons of sluggos, but this doesn't sound like them . Is this a trolling thing, which is something I always had trouble doing while surf fishing.

Surgical hose tube lures. They are similar to baracuda tubes, except you troll these. They are a bit more curley. Any bay type tackle shop should have some. They used to be very popular on the bay. Some say they still are.

You tell us, just exactly do you already have in the tackle box.

Surgical hose tubes lures. They impersonate eels. You can also tip them with bait. Many people seem to like these.

Thanks for all the help. I hope to pick up a lot this weekend at one of the markets.
Sorry to come across so needy, but a surf guy with no experience with the bay.
My tackle box is a mess. Moslty plugs, tons of jigs/metals and sluggos. nothing small for the bay. looks like this:

the jigs metals and sluggos will work here ........... and the tubes really don't act like an eel ......... never saw an eel corkscrew .......... just gives an erratic motion that drives stripers and blues crazy ........... those and ragmops were all we used decades ago because the blues would tear up anything else you trolled .........

I see bucktails. Good start. They are easy to troll. Remember, spring big. You will need some trolling weights.

Trolled crankbaits, start out with natural shad, bunker colors, with some whites and chartruese, deep divers and shallow. Possibly some chrome for sunny days.

Spoons, take you choice, Tonys, Cripple Alwive; Kastmasters for casting.

A few smaller plugs for surface action, reasonable sized not like the large surf plugs you have shown.

Hooks, sinkers and floats for live bait rigging and bottom fishing.

                        Keep it fun.

I have a pack of storm eels, I haven't caught anything on it yet(snagged one)I still troll it around once in a while, you never know what lure is going to trigger these fish to bite. It's good to try all kinds of lures thats how you figure out what you feel comfortable fishing with and what works best in different conditions.

                                summersoff,

How do you rig/fish your slug-gos for salt? For LM Bass I'll throw a 6" with a #3 hook, no weight and just twitch it. Normally twitching and reeling with enough frequency that it stays near the surface. Technique similar for salt? Let it fall? Any weight?
