Hey Yakfish or Sparky, do you have a list of those who are confirmed to make the M&G and those that will make it to lunch?

The Potomac River is getting blown out this weekend with all the snow melt coming down the river. How does the Susky do in this type of situation? Water level still kayak-able for the meet and greet?

Sparky may. I do not, sorry Martin.

I will pass. I think the rain and snowmelt is goiig to make the flats a muddy mess.

The water clarity is not going to be good, adding scent to the bait will be a good idea. I just called the spill gate hotline and stated no spill gates will be open in the near future?? The generation schedule is normal and really does not affect the section of the river we are fishing...being so close to the mouth and the flats. If spill gates are opened, then the water will flow noticeably faster. I wish I had a better answer Dave, but I would have to say yes....the water is kayak-able at this time. Visited the Launch today and the river is clear of ice!!! The meet and greet is a GO!

Cant say the same for the ramp, it looks like a rendezvous for all the plow trucks. It's blocked with snow..but between the rain tomorrow and DaveFX35 and myself shoveling Saturday before Sunrise...it will be clear for launch. I am anticipating a lot of run off tomorrow so water clarity is going to be issue. If you have any type of scent enhancement, please bring it. Perch are carnivores, if they are there, they will bite...but scent will help. At this time, no spill gates will be open and generation is normal. The winds are picking up mid morning, the area offers some protection....but there will be some chop.

I should be there also to fish and for lunch.I will be bringing a Jackson Big Rig to demo. Would you folks suggest minnows or lures in the muddied waters.

Nothing beats live bait, so if its convenient to purchase the minnows go for it. Most will show up with them. I would also recommend small 2" plastic grubs on small jigheads and a 1 - 2 oz sinker for jigging and deadsticking, preferably white or chartreuse for the muddy waters. Anything plastic and small will work, I have even seen guys break apart small pieces of rubber worms. Nightcrawler might not be a bad idea either....I am actually bringing some raw chicken to soak for catfish...after I limit on YP (thinking positive)!

I still plan on coming for fishing and lunching.

You may want to bring heavier than 2 oz just in case the flow is up.

If anyone wants a half point of minnows, I can pick up some extra. Please PM if you want some.

I agree the night crawlers may be a good idea, at times they'll produce better than minnows.

FYI...if all the boaters decide to fish Saturday the parking lot could fill quickly. An additional parking lot is directly on the other side of the bridge. Wasn't a single car in the lot today, but I have a feeling we will not be alone Saturday.

If the first lot is full, just unload and drive to the other lot to park...it's a quick walk back to the ramp.
