Bay Bridge Friday 7/18 SPSP

Ran into groundhog out there Friday. Beautiful day on the water. Between the calm water and the lack of boat traffic it seemed to be a perfect day for my first attempt at fishing the Bay Bridge. Started off hanging near the rocky piers just offshore from SPSP trying to collect some spot for live lining. As I slowly worked my way out I ran into groundhog who turned me on to his pattern for catching spot which paid off very quickly. After catching 2, plus one more gifted to me by groundhog, I made my way out towards deeper water to live line.
I tossed the spot over then rigged up a yellow jig with a Gulp swimming mullet. After a while of no-takers I switched over to white/chartreuse jig and trimmed it with a Gulp eel. I checked my bait and move to another pier, but still no luck. By noon all I had caught was those 2 spot. So I pulled everything in and rigged a couple rods with X-raps... one running about 6 feet deep and another running about 12 feet deep and started trolling.
That was the magic I needed. Caught 7 stripers before I called it quits. Nothing worth taking a picture of... they were all on the small side... but it was fun to finally get some pullage.
