Congrats on your new boat, we did the Upper Potomac float with Charlie last year (or maybe 2 years ago?) and his Vibe was perfect for the river waters.

Wanted something significantly lighter than my Slayer, so I picked up an Ulimate this weekend. (I could never get the slayer on the top cradle) :-)
It's a bit different layout than I'm used to. Pretty bare bones, so it'll be fun customizing it. We'll see shortly if it's a winner.

A nice clean open-deck like your slayer comes in hand when landing larger fish / fish with teeth!Hobie Ivory Dune ProAngler 14 Lowrance Elite 7 ti TotalScan

Congratulations! I think the Ultimate 12 is a definite winner and I hope you enjoy yours. I like it precisely because it is bare bones. I've kept mine that way because I want it to remain light. It's easy to transport, simple to store and most of all, a joy to fish from.
Mine also has the upper birth on my kayak rack:

Congratulations on your new Ultimate. Although it is an older design, it is a great boat that is easy to use and love.John Veil
