if i can make it - i'd most likely launch at the point. and for anyone wondering about conditions - i would compare that to sandy point park beach conditions since it's on sheltered side of the CH cape. but i guess that depends on which way the wind blows. i'd say it's more likely to be the sheltered direction during summer. but either way - it's only a couple hundred yards from there to the inner wall.
does anyone know offhand if charcoal grill is allowed at that location??? if yes - let's do it right and grill up some fish,..., or hotdogs.

there is a pavillion by the pier and i think they have a grill there but i never payed attention to it. more than a couple hundred yds but not a bad ride unless the wind is blowing from the north, i usually stop at Lewes beach to check wind conditions before paying to get into the park

How can you launch from the point? (Pull your yak along the beach?) I thought it was off limits. There's a sign on the beach that says to keep out, although passing yakers rest there. As far as I know, the only launch is from the beach near the pier. From there the inner wall is about a mile away. The outer wall is about three miles away. The water between the walls is at least 80' deep, and the chops there can get funky due to the depth change. If the weather changes quickly, the chops can get bigger. I had a wet ride the last time I was there.Originally posted by Southerly View Postif i can make it - i'd most likely launch at the point. and for anyone wondering about conditions - i would compare that to sandy point park beach conditions since it's on sheltered side of the CH cape. but i guess that depends on which way the wind blows. i'd say it's more likely to be the sheltered direction during summer. but either way - it's only a couple hundred yards from there to the inner wall.

I've seen groups at the pavilion. Not sure if it's by reservation or fcfs.Last edited by tufnik; 08-01-2012, 05:49 PM.2015 Hobie Outback (yellow)

yeah the only way to the point is ORV if they open the point. i think the pluvers are done now. on saturday the beach on the ocean side will look like a parking lot with all the ORVs lined up. or walk/kayak from the pier. a lot of fly guys wade and fish the flats out to the point its a world class fly destination actually met the funny looking guy from orvis that has a fly fishing show on WFN had some beers at Irish Eyes with him last year, nice guy

under 16? google a look at the MSSA Youth Angler of the Year. have him catch a legal-size fish (6" min for entrant fish not having a legal-required minimum), submit pic, age, location (general is ok), and date to yay@mssa.netOriginally posted by kevinfry View PostGetting close to confirming my attendance. Will likely have my son along too!
All august entrants get a chance in drawing to win a med-lite, fast-action st croix premier rod with penn reel - retail value $169 from Marty's Tackle in edgewater.

I drove ORV and Went back to the Pier Parking lot. Even with Tufnik's custom made kayak cart for dry sand. It is impossible to drag a cart to the beach from the parking lot. It will be a loooong walkOriginally posted by Pinch View PostTo use the orv beach you need a permit to drive on the beach and if you park you must be actively surf fishing.
definetely the permit and a 4wd are required. I also carried a portable tire inflator just in case I had to deflate the tires
